Meta Ads vs Native Ads

Put your actual Facebook or Instagram numbers in and see the same budget modelled on native inventory. Not a sales pitch — the arithmetic, side by side, including the cases where Meta still wins.

Your current Meta campaign

Pull these from Ads Manager. Estimates are fine.
Native page CVR is set slightly higher by default because native traffic runs through an advertorial rather than straight to a form. If you would send native traffic to the same page you use for Meta, set both the same — the comparison is then purely about click price.

Side by side

Same budget, same offer, different traffic source.

Where native genuinely wins

Native clicks cost a fraction of Meta clicks — often ten to fifty times less in Tier 2 and Tier 3 geos. That gap is the whole argument, and it is large enough to survive a considerably worse conversion rate.

Native also does not depend on a single account that can be disabled overnight. Advertisers who have lost a Meta account without warning tend to value that more than the cost difference.

Where Meta still wins

Intent. Someone scrolling Facebook is closer to buying than someone reading a news article, and Meta's targeting and lookalike modelling remain better than anything native networks offer. For retargeting, and for known brands people already search for, Meta is usually the stronger buy.

Native needs an advertorial to work. If you are not prepared to build one, you will get cheap clicks and no conversions, and the comparison above will flatter native more than reality does. That single factor decides most native campaigns.

The honest answer for most advertisers is both. Native to fill the top of the funnel cheaply, Meta to retarget the people it brings in. Treating it as a choice between them usually leaves money on the table.

The formula behind all of it

CPL = CPC ÷ conversion rate. Your budget appears nowhere in it. Doubling spend doubles clicks and doubles leads, leaving the cost of each lead unchanged — which is why scaling an unprofitable campaign only loses money faster. There are two levers: cheaper clicks, or a better page. Native changes the first one dramatically.

Questions

Where do I find my Meta numbers?+
Ads Manager. CPM, CTR and spend are in the default columns. Landing page conversion rate comes from your analytics or CRM, and lead-to-sale from your sales records. Estimates are fine for a comparison.
Why is native's conversion rate set higher by default?+
Because native traffic should run through an advertorial rather than land on a form. If you would send native traffic to the same page you use for Meta, set both the same and the comparison becomes purely about click price.
Does native always beat Meta?+
No, and the tool says so when it doesn't. Meta wins on intent, targeting and retargeting. Native wins on click price and on not depending on a single account that can be disabled overnight. For many advertisers the answer is both.
What is break-even CPL?+
Your average sale value multiplied by the share of leads that close. It is the absolute ceiling for what a lead can cost on any channel. Pay more than that and every extra lead deepens the loss.
Are the native CPC figures real?+
They are benchmark ranges by vertical and country tier drawn from typical native network pricing, not a quote for your account. Your own first thousand clicks will give you a more accurate number.
