Advertising on Taboola costs roughly $0.30 per click on mobile and $0.60 on desktop in the US, with no platform or subscription fee — you pay only for clicks or impressions. You can technically start with $10 a day, Taboola recommends at least $50 a day per campaign, and campaigns typically need around $300 a day to learn reliably. In India and other Tier 2 markets, clicks cost a small fraction of that.

That is the quick answer to how much does it cost to advertise on Taboola. The full answer depends on where you advertise, what you sell and how you bid — and on a few costs outside the platform that most pricing articles leave out.

If you are not yet familiar with the platform, see what Taboola is first.

How Taboola charges you

Taboola pricing works on two models. With CPC, you are charged your bid each time someone clicks your ad. With CPM, you pay per thousand impressions — used mostly for awareness campaigns and programmatic buying. There is no monthly platform fee on self-serve accounts.

CPCCPM
You pay forEach clickEach 1,000 impressions
Best forTraffic, leads, salesAwareness, reach
Risk if ads underperformLow — no click, no chargeYou pay for unseen impressions
Most self-serve advertisers useYesLess often

For almost every performance advertiser, CPC is the right starting point. It caps your downside: an ad nobody clicks costs nothing.

Billing

Taboola offers three payment schedules. The most common for self-serve accounts is automatic Taboola billing: you add a credit card and set a billing increment, typically $100. Each time your campaigns spend that amount your card is charged, and you receive an invoice at month end for the total, as described in Taboola's Realize help centre.

Use a dedicated card

Frequent $100 charges make business accounting harder if they sit on a card you use for everything else. A separate card for ad spend keeps reconciliation simple — and makes it obvious if a campaign starts spending faster than you expected.

What a Taboola click costs, by market

Geography is the biggest single driver of Taboola CPC. The same ad costs vastly different amounts in different countries, because the auction reflects local advertiser competition and purchasing power.

MarketTypical CPCRelative cost
United States$0.30 – $0.60+Highest
United Kingdom$0.25 – $0.55High

Brazil / Mexico$0.05 – $0.15Low

What your budget actually buys

Price per click only matters in relation to what each click is worth. Here is what realistic monthly budgets produce — assuming a 4% landing page conversion rate.

Monthly budgetMarketCPCClicksLeads at 4%Cost per lead
₹30,000India₹1.70~17,600~705~₹43
₹1,00,000India₹1.70~58,800~2,350~₹43
$1,500US mobile$0.30~5,000~200~$7.50
$5,000US desktop$0.60~8,300~333~$15
$9,000US mixed$0.45~20,000~800~$11
Cost per lead = CPC ÷ conversion rate

Notice that cost per lead stays the same as budget grows. More money buys more leads, not cheaper ones.

This is the most important thing to understand about Taboola ads cost. Raising your budget does not lower your cost per lead — only cheaper clicks or a better-converting page do. Work out the most you can afford to pay for a lead first; our break-even CPL guide shows how in two inputs.

Minimum spend, briefly

There are several different "minimums", which causes confusion about Taboola minimum spend:

A useful rule of thumb is to budget 10 to 15 times your target cost per acquisition per day. We cover minimums, learning-period maths and budget scenarios in depth in our dedicated Taboola minimum budget guide.

The costs outside the platform

Taboola's own charges are only part of what advertising there really costs. These are the extra costs to budget for:

CostTypical rangeNeeded?
Advertorial / landing pageYour time, or a writer and designerEssential for most offers
Creative productionImages and headlines, refreshed every 2–3 weeksEssential
Conversion tracker~$69 – $199 a monthWorth it above ~₹80,000 a month spend
Agency management feeTypically 10–20% of spendOptional
Learning-phase spendRoughly 25× your target cost per leadUnavoidable
Wasted spend on weak placementsVaries — reduce with weekly blockingManage actively

The advertorial deserves special mention. Native clicks come from people who were reading something else, so they arrive with no buying intent. Sending them straight to a sales page typically halves conversion — which doubles your real cost per lead, whatever you paid per click.

Taboola vs Meta vs Google on cost

ChannelTypical cost per clickIntent
Taboola (US)$0.30 – $0.60Low — interruption traffic
Taboola (India)$0.01 – $0.05Low
Meta (US)$0.50 – $2.00Low to medium
Google Search (US)$2 – $8+High

Taboola clicks are cheap because they come from people who were not looking for you. That is the trade: low cost, low intent. How to lower your Taboola costs

  1. Start in a cheaper market. Prove the funnel in India or another Tier 2 market before paying Tier 1 prices.
  2. Block weak publishers weekly. Anything that spends twice your target cost per lead without converting goes.
  3. Raise bids selectively. Pay more on the sites that convert rather than raising bids everywhere.
  4. Refresh creative every two to three weeks. Fatigued ads lose click-through rate and cost more per click.
  5. Build an advertorial. The single biggest lever on cost per lead.
  6. Separate mobile and desktop. They price and convert differently.
  7. Track real conversions. Without accurate data, automated bidding optimises toward the wrong outcome — see our tracking setup guide.

Questions

How much does it cost to advertise on Taboola?+
There is no platform fee — you pay per click or per thousand impressions. US clicks typically cost around $0.30 on mobile and $0.60 on desktop. Taboola recommends at least $50 a day per campaign, and Tier 1 campaigns usually need around $300 a day to learn reliably. Indian clicks cost a small fraction of US prices.
What is the minimum budget for Taboola?+
You can technically launch from about $10 a day, and a campaign budget must be at least 30 times your bid. Taboola recommends $50 a day per campaign as a guideline. Around $300 a day is typically needed for Tier 1 campaigns to exit the learning phase.
Does Taboola charge a monthly fee?+
No. Self-serve Taboola accounts have no subscription or platform fee. You pay only for the clicks or impressions your campaigns buy.
Is Taboola CPC or CPM?+
Both. Most performance advertisers use CPC, paying their bid each time someone clicks. CPM, paying per thousand impressions, is used mainly for awareness campaigns and programmatic buying.
How does Taboola billing work?+
Taboola offers three payment schedules. The most common self-serve option is automatic billing: you add a credit card and set a billing increment, typically $100. The card is charged each time your campaigns spend that amount, with a monthly invoice for the total.
How much does a Taboola click cost in India?+
Very little by comparison with the US. Our own Indian campaigns averaged about $0.019 per click across 191,994 clicks — roughly ₹1.70. Typical Indian ranges are about $0.01 to $0.05 depending on vertical and region.
Is Taboola cheaper than Facebook ads?+
Per click, usually yes — US Taboola clicks often cost $0.30 to $0.60 against $0.50 to $2 on Meta. But Taboola clicks come from people who were not searching for you, so conversion rates are lower. Compare on cost per lead, not cost per click.
Why is my Taboola cost per lead so high?+
Most often because traffic is going straight to a sales page instead of an advertorial, because weak publishers have not been blocked, or because the campaign is still in its learning phase. Budget does not change cost per lead — only cheaper clicks or better conversion rates do.
What hidden costs come with Taboola advertising?+
Landing page or advertorial creation, regular creative refreshes, a conversion tracker at roughly $69 to $199 a month for larger budgets, agency fees of typically 10 to 20 percent if you use one, and learning-phase spend before results stabilise.
